Cape Town Art Fair Tour: Emerging Artists (Virtual Tour)

As artists tend to create new works for art fairs in the run-up to them, these events make for the ideal platforms to gauge new trends in contemporary art, or connect with new ideas. Granted few artists like to take risks at commercial event but they do want to stand out.

The focus of this walkabout of the 2023 Investec Cape Town Art Fair is on emerging artists,  teasing out different approaches to collecting art produced by artists that might be deemed 'emerging'. In line with this, Mary Corrigall will bring to light the rising trends, new voices, new mediums and sociopolitical sentiments that are creeping into contemporary art.

This virtual version of a tour of works by emerging artists at the Cape Town Art Fair will feature some footage of the event but will largely compromise images of works with some recordings of the interviews with artists.
