With auction houses leading in sales of art since the digital accelleration of the art market, the patterns in this sphere of art commerce have become more valuable in terms of offering insight into the African art market. Has the secondary market for African modern or contemporary improved or remained the same in the last six months? Which African-focussed auction houses are driving or shaping the market? Are the African based-houses only servicing domestic clients and tastes?

The findings presented in these two reports are based on the analysis of 45 auctions and over 9000 lots offered for sale between January 2020 and June 2021.
