ART TOUR: What's New, Now?
Exploring Emerging Artists at the
2023 Investec Cape Town Art Fair
As artists tend to create new works for art fairs in the run-up to them, these events make for the ideal platforms to gauge new trends in contemporary art, or connect with new ideas. Granted few artists like to take risks at commercial event but they do want to stand out.
The focus of this walkabout of the 2023 Investec Cape Town Art Fair is on emerging artists, teasing out different approaches to collecting art produced by artists that might be deemed 'emerging'. In line with this, Mary Corrigall will bring to light the rising trends, new voices, new mediums and sociopolitical sentiments that are creeping into contemporary art.
Along the tour, Corrigall will pause to converse with several dealers and artists as she probes some of the threads that unite new trends in contemporary expression.
To keep the tour intimate and accessible there are only 12 tickets available for each tour.
A virtual version of the tour - more static version with images and some live content - will also be made available for those who are unable to attend the art fair in person.
